The Presidents’ Forum 2025 (“The Forum”) of The Belt & Road Alliance for Traditional Chinese Medicine (“The Alliance”) will be held on Friday, 18 July 2025, at Lecture Theatre 6, 1/F, Lee Shau Kee Building, The Chinese University of Hong Kong (“CUHK”). The Forum aims to advance the development and innovation of Traditional Medicine (“TM”) through international cooperation and exchange within the Belt & Road Initiative.
Established in 2023, The Alliance is a collaborative initiative led by CUHK in partnership with Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Chinese Medicine, Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Ningxia Medical University, Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital of Sichuan Province, and The Modernized Chinese Medicine International Association. The Alliance aims to unite government, industry, academia, and research institutes of TM among the countries and regions along the Belt & Road initiative. Its objective is to build a community focused on human health and well-being and promote the modernisation and high-quality development of TM through international cooperation. Over the past two years, with the full support and cooperation of our esteemed Alliance members, the Alliance has successfully attracted 36 renowned TM-related universities and research institutions from mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, Canada, Thailand, Malaysia, South Africa, and Sri Lanka as founding academic members. Additionally, several institutions have joined as members from the healthcare and industrial units. Since its inception, the Presidents’ Forum has attracted nearly 40 leaders from higher education institutions and research organizations, as well as prominent figures in the TM industry, to discuss strategic developments in TM and traditional medicine from various countries, becoming a crucial platform for promoting international cooperation and exchange.
